Brief About Professor Ahmed Tijjani Mora OON, MNI
Biography
Prof. Ahmed Tijjani Mora is a seasoned pharmacist and management expert with a career that spans academia, public service, and private sector practice. He is recognized nationwide for excellence, dedication, and consistency in supporting pharmacy education and practice, societal development, and healthcare management.
He is a Professor at the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice in the Dora Akunyili College of Pharmacy, Igbinedion University, Okada (IUO), Okada, Edo State and Past Chairman, Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN). He was the Foundation Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Kaduna State University (KASU), Kaduna, and the pioneer Head of the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Management at the same university
Prof. Mora has served the nation in several capacities such as a Member of the Presidential Committee on Pharmaceutical Sector Reform (PCPSR), a Member of the Technical Committee National Council on Health (NCH) and a member of the Federal Ministry of Health Committee on Electronic Medical records (EMR) establishment in Nigeria’s hospitals. He was awarded the National Honour of the “Officer of the Order of the Nigeria “(OON) by the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2003 in recognition of his contribution to national development.
He is a passionate and accomplished servant leader with a track record of service as National President of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Alumni Association and Chairman Board of Trustees of ABU Pharmacy Alumni Association (ABUPAA). He has also handled positions such as; National Chairman Committee of Registrars of the Health Professions (CRHP), Chairman Conference of the Alumni Association of Nigerian Universities (CAANU), Member of the Board of Nigerian Association of Pharmacists and Pharmaceutical Scientists in the Americas (NAPPSA) and Member of the Governing Council of the National Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
Prof. Mora is an alumnus of the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Pharmacy in 1978 and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) in 1985. He obtained his Ph.D in Management Studies from Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto (UDUS) in 2012 and is a Fellow of the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists as well as a graduate of Senior Executive Course (SEC) from the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Plateau State.
He holds fellowship positions in the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (FPSN), Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, Institute of Corporate Executives of Nigeria (FICEN), Institute of Healthcare Management, Nigeria (FIHMN) and the Nigerian Institute of Management (FNIM).
He also holds the traditional title of Wakilin Maganin Zazzau by the Zazzau Emirate Council, Zaria; “Iyan Piriga” by the Piriga Kingdom, Gure, Piriga, Lere LGA, Kaduna State and “K’ayayen Sarkin Musulmi” by the Sokoto Sultanate Council.
